New Single 'O Philosopher'
27.02 .2026
A bold combination of stacked harmonies and anthemic pop, O Philosopher is an earworm from the first listen.
LILLI's vulnerable lyrics address that fine line in relationships on whether giving loving correction can be better than staying silent.
2 Timothy 2 : 24-25
A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. Gently instruct those who oppose the truth.
Intro
Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Oh Ohhh
Verse I
I know what I think
But I don’t know what to say
It hurts you either way
Hope it’s worth it someday
I cannot acquiesce and I will not subscribe
But craving fire leaves your throat real dry
Writing in the dust as if you found a revelation
Chorus
O Philosopher
There’s a speck in your eye and a log in my own
O Philosopher
Lying is poison don’t drink from that cup
Truth is a scalpel but I can’t make the cut
Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Oh Ohhh
Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Oh Ohhh
Verse II
Each lyric has to be a revelation
Every melody profound
The truth without a flag
Creates a complicated sound
Boiling it all down to get one drop
one cohesive thought and it’s all I’ve got
Choking on a smoke screen of your own creation
Chorus
O Philosopher
There’s a speck in your eye and a log in my own
O Philosopher
Lying is poison don’t drink from that cup
Truth is a scalpel but I can’t make the cut
Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Oh Ohhh
Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Oh Ohhh
Bridge
I’ve got no fuel for fire
Can’t fulfil your desire
I cannot play this game
I am the one to blame
And she’s not coming home
She wonders where is home
Could you have guessed
that I loved her
Chorus
O Philosopher
There’s a speck in your eye and a log in my own
O Philosopher
Lying is poison don’t drink from that cup
Truth is a scalpel but I can’t make the cut
Silence leaves scars that I should have stitched up
Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Oh Ohhh
Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Oh Ohhh
Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Oh Ohhh
Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh Oh Ohhh
O Philosopher pairs anthemic pop, ukulele and stacked harmonies with introspective lyrics that explore the tension between conviction and compassion, ego and humility.
Anyone can fall prey to the fine art of being very convinced and very wrong. It’s easy to philosophise, hard to accept truth that makes us uncomfortable, and harder still to deliver it with love.
O Philosopher acknowledges that humility and grace are needed; we’ve all been wrong before. It’s a song of self-reflection, love and truth, all wrapped in a hook that’s as singable as it is thought-provoking.
From LILLI
“O Philosopher is one of the most personal and vulnerable songs that I’ve written. It was born out of the tension I feel when loving people deeply, when division rises and faith becomes costly. There’s the risk of hurting someone by saying too much, and the quiet ache of saying nothing at all.
This song is my acknowledgement that I don’t handle this tension perfectly. I get it wrong often. Love isn’t blind confirmation, nor is truth brutal correction. This is my attempt to hold both with humility, knowing that truth heals best with grace."
2 Timothy 2:24-26
A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. Gently instruct those who oppose the truth.
Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.
Matthew 7:3-5 3
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Psalm 139:14
"I praise you because
I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Ain’t we all been there when we’ve met that awesome guy
a sense of humour and sparkly eyes, he had you from the word “Hi”
Then you get those tummy feelings and you wonder if he gets them too
But if he’s holding back
Love, I have news for you
He’s just not into you
Girl, it’s not a joke
Take a moment to breathe
Before your sweet heart gets broke
It’s not who you are
Or ‘cause of anything you’ve done
And there’s someone that’s out there
But this guy’s not the one
Feelings come real fast and throw your mind off track
The hardest part is just ‘cause you like him doesn’t mean he’s gonna like you back
Just because you met his eye across the crowded room
It doesn’t mean you’ve met true love
I think you must assume
He’s just not into you
Girl, it’s not a joke
Take a moment to breathe
Before your sweet heart gets broke
It’s not who you are
Or ‘cause of anything you’ve done
And there’s someone that’s out there
But this guy’s not the one
It’s hard to know when you’re told your perfect
All alone doesn’t mean that you’re not worth it
God only knows the one that’s meant to be
So until he comes along, I want it to come from me
He’s just not into you
Girl, it’s not a joke
Take a moment to breathe
Before your sweet heart gets broke
He’s just not into you
Girl, it’s not a joke
Take a moment to breathe
Before your sweet heart gets broke
And it’s not who you are
Or anything you’ve done
And there’s someone that’s out there
Oh yeah there’s someone that’s out there
But this guy’s not the one
Not the one
Not the one
Not the one
Being romantically interested in someone who doesn’t feel the same way seems like a right of passage when growing up.
He’s Just Not Into You explores the idea that someone can be disinterested in you - and it’s okay.
This song lovingly tells the often painful truth - it’s not who you are, or anything you’ve done. And there’s someone that’s out there… but this guys not the one!
“I have had many beautiful friends of mine smitten with a guy who is lovely - and totally disinterested in them. We like to tell our young people that they are ‘perfect just the way they are’. And then, when someone's not interested in us, it catches us off guard, and we can easily wonder what we did wrong.
I wrote this song as an antidote to say that you can be a beautiful person, and he can still not be interested in you.
There's nothing wrong with that, your worth isn’t tied up in someone else’s feelings about you. And hang tight, the right person is out there somewhere!”
